Re: 2019 DRAFT DISCUSSION

I decided to go with 10 minute times today, and going to be that way from here on out. As previously stated, I have some minor scheduling things and division realignment to do before we go in to the season.

Feeling great about my draft. Top bats, two solid starters (that’s all you need really,) 3 best closers in the game... and we’re just getting started. How do you guys feel about yours?

You will learn quickly in this league that you are going to need more than 2 solid starters when there are over 150 starters on rosters. But yes, those relief pitchers will help. I will say that you have taken some of my top targets in this draft though, lol (even though we are 17 picks apart, lol).

Very much disagree. 2 solid starters at least (2 is not the cut off but it’s really just the point of quality over quantity in that respect.) then after that you can build through streaming and average starters that can easily be rotated out. At that point the ppg doesn’t really matter because it’s all the same.

You can make up to 12 starts per week, you will need them most weeks to win. When most teams will be carrying 8 SP's there are historically no decent pitchers to stream. You will be relying on #4 or #5 starters on big league rosters, AAA call-ups or spot starters.

This 18 team league is a different animal than smaller league, especially needing to win by points, head-to-head every week.

It's cool if that's your strategy, just saying it tends not to work out in this league very often.

I’m in a few 20 team leagues. Thanks. The point is you always have 2-4 top guys and then fill the rest with average guys. I broke my own rule with taking 3 closers but you guys just kept leaving them. But thanks for the advice lol.

So now it's 2-4 starters? Not trying to give you advice, you just clearly mentioned two is all you need, which I disagreed with. 4 starters does do you well in this league, that's a good number. Some bigger leagues don't allow for 8 SP's or have lower max start counts, which would probably lead to more available pitchers. There just isn't great choice on the free agent market I've found. You can find a couple here and there, but really you just hope theu get you like 40-50 point start and not implode for some -21 or something, haha.

Good luck man! Trade me a closer at some point, I'm gonna need one, haha.

Anyway, back to my question... how does everyone feel about their drafts?

I think so far, I'm cautiously optimistic about my draft; I kinda like it. I wish my #2 SP was a little more reliable than Marquez, but at least he's still got room to grow. I guess it would have been nice to have a closer at this point, but picking at the end didn't give me anyone in my tiers when it gets to me.

It's going to be tough for me this year with this roster because I was so used to the likes of Ramirez, Rizzo, Bryant, Kluber, deGrom and Severino on my roster over the last few seasons, lol. It's different not seeing that solid of a "core" anymore.

Re: 2019 DRAFT DISCUSSION

Looking like we can get this done by tomorrow. Do you think we can slightly adjust weekdays by doing 15m per pick? If that won't get us done by Thursday then it's not an issue; I just think it would be easier for myself and others in the league if we spread out the times just a little bit on weekdays.

Re: 2019 DRAFT DISCUSSION

I'll be locked away in training all day in a SIPR room so I can pretty much be skipped until the evening. Highly doubtful I'll be able to leave training
